Bio

I was born in Texas and grew up in Kentucky. During high school and college, I was a newspaper kid and worked as a copy editor for my hometown newspaper. Moved to NYC for more school and work — my time there taught me a lot about human rights, justice, and being a good neighbor. Now I live in Portland with my two stinky dogs: Yee-tai and Stella.

Volunteered at the Hollywood Theatre when I first moved to town — I want to hear about your favorite movie!

Experience

  • Undergrad education in political science and international law.

  • Trial prep paralegal at a large NYC law firm. Assisted with legal research, reviewed evidence, prepared witness prep materials.

  • Program Coordinator for a PDX community center. Organized with neighbors and the Oregon Food Bank to offer an Oregon Trail Card cooking class. Coordinated a neighborhood survey to identify barriers to attendance and addressed those barriers by offering free transportation and licensed childcare. As a result, we added seats to the class and achieved a 100% retention rate.

  • Compliance & Policy Coordinator for Birthingway College of Midwifery.

    • Managed projects, assigned work, and made decisions under a shared governance model.

    • Advocated for the college during their 2018 accreditation cycle, facilitated state authorization, documented internal policies, and managed student requests for exception to policy.

  • Joined PCC in 2019. Since being hired, I have worked in non-credit and credit departments as an IAA, and a professional development position with Environmental Health & Safety. I am currently the IAA3 for Social Sciences & Ethnic Studies.

work

  • Cascade Campus Rep and Grievance Committee member since January 2025.

    • Organized with a PT Classified group to retain their summer pay and health benefits.

    • Co-facilitated a bad boss campaign with Public Safety Officers, leading to the termination of an abusive manager and the ongoing investigation of a second abusive manager.

    • Worked with an FCE member to win a historic anti-discrimination victory — allowing Indigenous employees to wear their hair in accordance with tradition.

    • Advocated (and continue to advocate) for members experiencing pay issues due to Workday and management mistakes, and won backpay.

    • Collaborated with FFAP on organizing and information requests, growing our organizing power.

  • CA Strike Captain and Strike Committee Member

    • Received introductory media training and gave my first interview as a union rep: PCC Employees Go on Strike

    • Co-developed and hosted (with FFAP) a PCC board mapping presentation for members during the strike. We reviewed board member personal motivations, discussed our role in assessing board members, and outlined next steps for supporting new, union-friendly board candidates.

  • Currently co-chair the FCE/FFAP Joint Board Mapping Subcommittee, doing the work of investigating and replacing anti-union board members.
